Healthy eating patterns in childhood promote optimal childhood health, growth, and intellectual development; prevent immediate health problems, such as iron deficiency anemia, obesity, eating disorders, and dental caries. Healthy diet may prevent long-term health problems, such as coronary heart disease, cancer, and stroke.

Our Diet and Nutrition Program can help children attain full educational potential and good health by developing healthy eating behaviors.

To ensure a healthy future for our children, Diet and Nutrition Program must become priority for schools. This program should be a part of comprehensive school health program for pre-school – secondary school.

School teachers and parents must commit to implementing and sustaining diet and nutrition programs within the schools. Such support is crucial to promoting healthy eating behaviors.
